Rescued: Family Records from Elizabeth Nigh’s Family Bible

Elizabeth (Deats) Nigh, wife of Jeremiah Nigh of Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, was the mother of 10 children.

Among them was daughter Elizabeth (Nigh) McKinney, to whom she presented a beautiful Bible. Meticulous, hand-written records about the family were kept in this Bible for many years.

About a decade ago, the Bible was found in California… and then turned up – disintegrating and full of mold – at a garage sale in Santa Maria.

Read on to find out what was salvaged and who is mentioned in this family treasure!

And where there’s family, there’s *family history* being made!

In the December Genealogy Blog Party, we shared holiday memories, traditions, and celebrations.

Giving Thanks: A Genealogy Thank You Note

Giving Thanks: A Genealogy Thank You Note

During this busy holiday season, we should all take the time to say “thanks” to those who have helped with our family history research.

Here are my thank yous. They include cousins, volunteers, an awesome website, images of my ancestors, and YOU.

Who has helped you this year?

P.S. There’s still time to add your thank you blog post to the November Genealogy Blog Party (ends 11/30).
